Default OBD II port missing!

Hi, guys;

I just bought a 1995 GLT with a manual transmission. The front of the console is different from my other volvo, and it doesn't have an OBD II connection. I was just wondering, does it have the OBD II connector in another location? I looked under the dash, where you'd expect to see it, no dice. If not, is that a 5-speed thing, or a non-turbo thing, or what?

I find the one on my 94 very useful.

Apparently it's a manual trans thing?

All '96 MY and later had to have OBD2; before that it was hit and miss.

Then you must have the OBD I box attached to the ECU box in the engine bay. I actually consider it better than the OBD II connector as you can do a lot of stuff like finding out which mileage the car has, or put specific components in test mode apart from reading the errors....
The OBD II stuff is also no real OBD II, you need specific tools and software to access it.

Scutyde- what do you mean by "which mileage"? Do you mean what the mileage is? Because if so i'd like instructions as I have a broken odo

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the mileage that reads is the mileage stored in the cluster, not necessarily whats on the engine

Thanks I should subscribe to your channel, I'll try it tomorrow afternoon and see what I get and share...pretty sure the cluster hasn't been touched seeing as the odo is on 125433 and has been since before the previous owner bought it (who is a friend and she had it for 5 years) she unfortunately only gave it the absolutely necessary care/work( ie - if it broke down she fixed it and was OK about oil changes), so I've been giving her some much needed love. Have replaced/ fixed all of the mechanical stuff and am now starting the cosmetic stuff I want to do but anyway enough of my rambling....can't wait to see what I get for mileage

Yep you get the mileage from the cluster, which is also pretty easily swaped. So it's not really reliable...but better than nothing. Here in Germany a lot of sellers turn back the mileage as it is pretty easy and sell the cars for a higher amount of cash.
