out side air temp
I believe it's behind the front grill on the driver's or passengers side. What do you consider high? I've seen as high as 120, especially if you park next to something like a parking curb. It reads the temp off the street to some extent.
That's pretty high but I could almost believe it especially if the sensor is somehow in close proximity to either a hose on the car or something. What's the real outside air temp when this happens? Does the display go down in temperature if you drive on the highway? Check under the front bumper for it near the center of the car but a little towards the driver's side. I think it has a grey connector.
I have heard of faulty oil pressure sending units and water temp sensors causing electrical fires.
Once you find that little guy, feel the wires going to and from it. If they are hot to the touch, disconnect and wrap connector with electrical tape.
