Default Overboosting...still

So tonight was my first long trip in the 850 tonight.

Well...I took it for a 40 min round trip. It didn't have problems starting, running or any of that.

BUT...When I floored it on the road, it pulled. Oh boy did it ever. HARD

But it started to hit fuel cut and the boost needle would go slightly past the white range.

What could this be?

Its got a fresh tune up and everything else is still in check.

The last thing the car needs is the PNP switch which will be getting done tomorrow

Any ideas?

I can drive it just fine cruising which is great. The A/C froze my manhood off.

That would be part of that module with the three vacuum lines by your air box that you were talking about before.

If the car is stock, then yes, the wastegate is not opening all the way. It could also be a bad boost solenoid.

How would I check that?

Vac lines not attached or going to the right spots?

yeah, make sure all of your vac lines are going to the right spots, and then make sure your wastegate isn't stuck closed or something. If it was stuck open, you wouldn't be able to create any boost, but if it was closed, it wouldn't be releasing boost. maybe your wastegate actuator?

Ok so check this out. It is a simple test to check if your wastegate is functionaing properly

Disconnect the vac line running from wastegate actuator to your tcv. Blow into the actuator and see if your wastegate open. If not then the wastegate is probably stuck.

If it does open I believe it is a tcv problem.

YAY. the wastgate actuator is that round thing on your turbo that has a rod sticking out of it going to the exhaust housing. that opens and closes the wastegate.

I'll have to look at it.

Not sure if this matters, but when I get on it a bit and let off the "bov" makes a spiraling noise.

I don't remember that with my wagon. Any ideas?

Kind of sounds like a fan that's spinning really fast slowing down?

It almost sounds like an SSQV without the high pitched whine.

I think it's just the turbine slowing down after boosting, my turbo makes that sound every time i punch it and then let up and the RPM's start coming back down.

I haven't had a chance to test yet, but after getting fresh premium gas in the cut out isn't so violent. Its almost as it is just limiting boost, but not all together bucking like it did before.

I did forget to mention previously that when you do floor it there is a smell of fuel or something.

I don't know if this will apply to you or not, but ever since I put on my new exhaust, which is a straight pipe, no cat and only a small muffler, whenever I floor it I get the smell of fuel/exhaust inside the car. I was like wtf? Then after thinking about it, I rolled up all my windows, floored it, and nothing. It was the way the air flowed around the car that exhaust fumes were making their way back into the cabin. Maybe your cat is no longer functioning. Just a thought.

It honestly doesn't seem like it is overboosting anymore.

Weird.

It definitely doesn't "buck" like it did.
