What do you mean tape up the emblem and nuts? You can paint your wheels, I painted mine, they make paint specifically for wheels, and make sure to use a clear coat as well. And don't forget about properly cleaning and sanding/wet sanding your wheels before painting.

the center cap pops off. And I don't know if there's a link or not. But it's pretty straight forward. I cleaned the wheels using steel wool with soapy water. Then wet sanding them with a 600 grit sandpaper (clean water). And then cleaned them with a paint thinner. Give them three or four LIGHT coats of wheel spray paint (the first coat or two shouldn't cover the wheel completely). When completely dried, wet sand them with a 1200 grit sandpaper (I didn't do that, but I wish I would have), and then about three or four coats of high gloss clear coat. This is an all day job, so have time set aside.

I just taped off the wheels, and then I marked on the tire where the clips went and took them off and painted them separately and then put them back on after everything was dry. The only problem with that is the next time you have to get an alignment your wheels will get scratched up. I wouldn't bother with the wheels being pitted in a couple areas, unless you really want to, you could always sand them down, put a little bit of bondo on the the pits and sand them again. Personally, I think that's too much work for these stock wheels.

I meant too much work with the pits, I wouldn't spend the extra time or money to fix them. Personally I don't really like the wheels, I mean they're better than the 15's but I still don't care for them too much, that's why I wouldn't bother with fixing the pitting, if you paint over the pits you probably won't even notice them.
and scratching wise, you just have to be careful around curbs, because if you do scratch them, it will be difficult to touch up the scratch and have it match and what not, you would probably have to repaint the whole wheel.
