Default Power Window Switch

My driverside window switch is not working properly, sometimes the window works and other times it doesnt.

How do i get it out of the car? Do i pry the windows switches out of the console or are there screws or something?

In general, interior pieces on Volvo's are held in place either by press-fit tabs (known to break if forced) or Torx. In this case, Haynes manual would be the best bet. If I remember correctly, I think there was a certain sequence that had to be followed in order to remove the center console.

.....(just woke up from an afternoon nap, sorry for my mid-age moment[8D])

.....wait, the switch panelwill just come out separately; try to find Torx screws hidden under plastic cosmetic caps or tiny slots to insert flat-blade screwdriver.

Look for loose wire at the switch. If secure, clean the switch with electrical contact cleaner and blow out the excess with a can of air duster (my favourite is the Office Max brand and I usually buy a bundle of 2 on sale). If the switch turns out ok, the problem may be on the motor side and in which case you'd have to remove the inside door panel and inspect the motor.

Wait till someone else jumps in; I don't have the car anymore so I couldn't try it myself.

Sorry this is not very thorough.

There is 2 T-25 screws holding the front pocket in the console under the ashtray.Unplug the cigar lighter and light and slide the OBDII port to the left to release it out of the cover.
Then there is 2 T-15 screws under the pocket holding the front of the console to the body of the car.
Unplug the black and grey plug.
Remove the little cover under the e-brake handle
Put the shifter in N and pull up the e-brake
Next open up the console and take everything out. Open the cover in the bottom of it.
It should have 2 8MM screws.
Remove them and then lift up on the back of the console and slide it back to remove it.

Then you can gain access to the window switch assembly. You can try to take it apart some but it is only sold as one assembly with a wiring harness attached to it.

I believe I picked up a Auto Switch from www.ipdUSA.com for my 960. Maybe the same switch.

I think they all had power windows. I can get you a switch at the yard near me. Or you can contact them directly and have them ship it to you.

When i pulled the switch out of my 960, I actually took it apart and clean the contacts with some fine sand paper and it worked fine. Maybe you can do that, unless something inside of the switch broke.

where a click of the button and the window goes down the whole way automatically?

A switch like the console?

I was trying to yesterday but haynes forgot to mention the 2 t-15s bolted to the body =.= I suppose I can try again another day...they say electrical cleaner works with it?

The button works going down but not up...only when i use a hair dryer on it or the cabin temperature is 30+ does the button work properly...so hopefully i can get it nxt time
