Default Radio upgrade w/CD??

A friend has a great running 1996 basic 850 sedan, stock radio with cassette. 'Would like CD capability. Is there such a Volvo "radio" that she could look for at recycler's, that would fit in 850 dash? I'm not a Volvo person, but note that some 1996 850s seem to be advertised w/stock CD player? Or, perhaps you could recommend an aftermarket unit. Thank you. Gene in Sacramento

If the car is a turbo, it may have the 6 disc cd changer in the trunk. I have 1994 850 T5 wagon and there is a 6 disc cd changer in the trunk, under the floor.

If it is not there, you can just add any alpine cd changer and it will work with the head unit. The wiring should already be there.

Thanks for the CD in trunk info. I take it that none of the 96 Volvos had a stock in the dash CD player option. Is it possible that a later year in-dash CD-included unit might fit? Just looking for possibilities here, and thanks in advance for any further information. Gene

Check SC-815 or SC-816. They were available.
