Default Rear wagon hatch wont stay latched

So for some odd reason today when I shut the rear hatch it would not stay latched. It is like the locking mechanism isnt latching onto the loop on the floor. I tried messing with it and nothing.

The small latch inside the lock just swivels back and forth inside. Nothing changes when I lock or unlock the car.

any ideas?

Ok i took apart the entire rear hatch mecanism and found the latch that attatches to the car side was staying latched. I fiddled aroung with it for a while and got it to start owrking again. I then put everything back together and now the dam power lock wont lock the back hatch. It trys to power is going to it but it wont work. The strange thing is if I plug in the harness to the actuator the rest of the door WONT lock either. If I unplug the harness then the other four doors lock and unlock but the rear hatch still will not!?!?!?

Did you maybe pinch a wire putting everything back together?

I dont think that is what happened. The harness really just hangs there and is not in a tight spot. I think the actuall insides or the locking latch (not the actuator) is bad. I am trying to find a used one but not having much luck

Hi!
The same type of thing was happening with mine. I actually traced back the wires and fount that the one going to the lock was split in two! It is kind of sharp where it lays, so I think that is what cut it. I fixed it, but I think my entire lock is bad. Any good ideas about taking the whole assembly out and replacing it?
