reset SRS light
I replaced my speedometer with a used one, and now the SRS light will not go out.I know about the reset light, and i did have to repair the steering wheel horn connection, so could either of these items be my problem?
The codes usually clear this don't they?
Thanks,
MO

To reset the SRS light requres a trip to the dealer. They charged me $117 just to reset that light when I had another guy do my evaporator and fixed something in the steering column causing the SRS light to come on. It ticked him off that he could not reset the SRS light and had to go to the dealer and could not believe how much they charged him.
If your 850 is of '93-'95, you can reset the SRS light manually via OBD-I. However, for '96 & '97, you'd have to visit a dealer and donate $$$ as Jim has already stated.
Let us know the model year of your 850. If it is '93-'95, I can give you instructions.

Here are the instructions. See attached pics.
In case if you still have the SRS warning even after clearing codes and the ECU only shows 111, I'll supply with additional info.

Maybe try disconnecting the battery and leave it for a little while and see if that resets the computer.
Make sure you have your radio code before disconnecting the battery

Has all the information you could want for the 850 '93-95 SRS system. It explaines why different codes set, how to test and how to reset. If I remember rights after clearing the code you have enter a code to put the system inself test, just like the ABS system.
These instructions worked forme when my SRS light came on after driving without my passanger side air bag (pulled the dash pad out to try to fix it).

That depends on your state's law.
One devious way around it is to pull out the bulb for the SRS light on the dash. That way the indicator is not lighted.
My experience has been that the computer diagnostics that are used by shops in doing safety inspections also cannot tell whether the SRS code has been activated. So, if there is no indicator lighted on the dash, no one would know that the code has been activated.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've had the light on for a few weeks after installing a viper alarm system and the only info I had found was that you had to take it to the dealership and cough up $100 to get it reset
just took care of it and the code is cleared, now I can have people in the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!
