Iam sorry but the link does not appear to work for the instructions to reset the SRS manually. Can anyone tell me how to get them?

 

I replaced the front seats on my Volvo V70 X/C turbo Wagon 2.4L and the SRS light is on. Anybody has any ideea how to fix the problem visiting the dealer??

 

you pay the dealer and they reset it.

there's a long list of devices and apps that scan/clear OBD2 codes. what you buy really depends on your interests and usage. As background, OBD2 codes are divided into groups as designated by the leading character ie P are power train codes, then there are chassis codes, ABS codes etc. Each computer function gets a set of codes. Next deliniation are the "generic" vs the enhanced codes. For example P0xxx are generic, P1xxxx are enhanced. Some of the enhanced may also have manufacturer specific interpretations. Finally, the OBD port is available to feed static data, ie stored codes as well as run time data - say you want to monitor fuel trim during a driving cycle...

As to the devices themselves, you can either get a handheld device with a built in screen and selection buttons or you can buy a dongle that marries up to a smart phone or PC based application. The advantage of the dongle is that the apps can be updated or upgraded as you see fit, plus you can record the data for offline viewing.

SO to your question of best app - your decision should be based on what code sets do you need to work with? every product does the P codes so the question is do you want to view chassis and abs codes too? Do you want to be able to view/interpret manufacturer codes? Do you want to be able to monitor/record real time data? Is price a consideration (these tools can range from under $30 to over $250)?

If you already own a dongle (such as the ELM 327), you can google for which apps are compatible - there's gonna be a list of free ones and others are licensed for a fee. Again back to what your needs are.

 

I have a 2005 V70 and as stated I have the ELM327. It connects and can view engine details etc. but not able to clear the SRS Airbag Service code. Does anyone know of a specific ap that works with the ELM327 OBD2 reader to clear SRS code or do I have to buy a better scanner as eluded to in other posts or take to a dealer to reset? The reason for the SRS warning is I removed the psgr seat in order to take care of a water leak issue and did not disconnect battery first. Thanks!

 

Well you can google "ELM327 SRS RESET" or you can swing by Autozone and "rent" a fully featured scanner. I've also used my local indy who'll scan and reset without a charge (since he knows if something was truly wrong, the code will simply reset).
