Rough shift 2nd to 3rd auto trans
94, 850 Turbo, Auto, 109k
My 850 at times, usually when I engage the kickdown, shifts hard between 2nd and 3rd. It doesn't slip in fact the tranny feels real tight.
The fluid was fine no discoloration but I changed it anyway plus I repalced the lower tranny and upper motor mount. There are no codes or other issues.
I have read on other forums that specifically deal with autos that a rough shift is caused by a worn check ball in the valuve body.The extra pressure causes the clutch to engage faster than normal actually reducing the slippage. It won't hurt the tranny per se it will actually prolong the tranny's life by reducing the clutch pack wear. You just have to live with the bumpy shift.
The long and short of it is that you probably don't want to invest all that time and/or $ on a car that worth $3k at the most.
Anyone have any thoughts on this or similar experiences

The tranny started to slip and shift erractically. It's strange though it's kind of erratic. I am not sure if the tranny is going out or if the solenoids are bad.I am about to give up on this car and call my first and only Volvo, 1994, 850t with just over 100K. I have NEVER had such a bad car in my life.

Interlock Switch
PNP Switch
Blower Motor
Idle Control Valve
Cat rusted out and split at Y pipe
Rear Turbo seal
One Fuel Injector
Fuel Presure Regulator
Power Seat Actuator Motor
Rear Motor Mount
Thermostat (resulted in near overheating)
I realize that have I bought a used car but this was advertised as a well maintained Florida Car with low miles 103K, I real got the shaft on this vehicle and will never own another Volvo. I have bought uesd BMWs with much higher miles and never had never this much trouble.The only car I had that was worse was a 1984 Audi 5000.
