Smile rpms drops on idle

hi guys am new to this site.l have a little problem with my volvo 850R. when fully warmed up and driven for miles and upon idle the rpms seems to drop and the car vibrates a little bit thru my seats. the radiator fan then turns on.l have no check engine light on and l have cleaned the throttle body, seafoamed thru the intake and cleaned the mass air flow sensor.l pretty much fix things by myself because am handy.any ideas will be appreciated. thanks

if you un plug your IAC and see if that helps... Im thinking either the MAF is going out, or your IAC is too dirty..

Throw some numbers at us. If it's idling in neutral try putting it in gear and see if the rpms adjust up. Shift it into neutral and see if they adjust down.

when l shift it to neutral it idles perfectly. idle is very perfect, trust me but before the radiator fun comes on it idles rough a lil bit and vibrates a lil then a few seconds the fan turns on.

IAC is the idle air control valve...

Do you have your a/c on?

if you have your defroster on (blowing on the windshield) it will automatically click on the A/C to remove the humidity out of the air, which in turn will kick on the radiator fan.

If your getting a funny smell you might need to get that heater core deodorizer spray thingy...

Yes... By all means!

Any vacuum line that is leaking, or a intercooler / Intake hose that is cracked will cause many issues.... Rough idle, loss of boost, Running rich, I even had mine not start due to a popped I/C hose.

The hose you are talking about is the "Y" one that goes from the throttle body to the IAC?

Thats common, Replace it with a silicone one if you can and you wont have to worry about it again..

As for the pics, use photobucket or imageshack and just copy and paste the IMG link

Yes, any leak in a hose on the intake system will cause a number of problems depending on where it is. Rough running or high idle are two of them.

To upload a picture open the "reply" window and below the box there will be smiley icons and below that will be another box "additional items". In there is an option to "attach files". If you have the picture saved on your computer someplace that is where you will go to attach it.

sorry the picture had to be taken upside down to get a good shot.its the hose with the green clip.it has a little crack on it.another question.am getting low boost on my turbo.could it be the turbo control solenoid or the cbv?when l take one hose connected to the boost control solenoid it boost really good but it over boost and l get a fuel cut.what could be the problem?am guessing the turbo control.

Replace the hose first and see if that cures your boost problem too.

I can't make out the damage in the picture but it doesn't matter. Any rip, tear or hole in a vacuum hose is a problem and needs to be corrected.
