Seat Belt Removal
My 96 850 has holes in the seat belt release buttons (red-orange
buttons). It looks like the sun and maybe some long fingernails did
the damage. I have another set from a 95 850 that I would like to
use as replacements. A couple of questions:
1. Is there any way to get the bolt out that holds the seatbelt/buckle
assembly to the seat without removing the seat? (And of course get
the new one back in).
2. I remember seeing something about a recall on the 95 850's
for a seat belt problem. Does anyone know if the buckle assembly
was the cause for the recall? I don't want to put these in if they
are not safe.
The only other solution I can see is to disassemble the buckles
and replace the red-orange buttons. It looks to me like these
buckles are designed to not be disassembled. If anyone has
successfully disassembled and reassembled one I would appreciate
any information you can give me.
Thanks, John

Hi tech,
Ok, thanks. One more question, I know I have to disconnect
the car battery, but do I need to do anything else before unplugging
the wiring underneath the seats? (I have airbags in the seats).
Thanks, John

The Air bags aren't electronic controlled.
Remove the switch panel and on the back side of the panel is a red clip. You need to install it between the 2 metal pieces at the front side of the seat. If those 2 metal connections touch that will set the airbag off.
