Default spark

Installed used engine in volvo 850 and it just turns and turns with no startup. I dont seem to have power going to the coil. I'm assuming it should be 12 volts there when I turn the ignition. Does anyone know where the power comes from that feeds the coil. I wish I could download a free electrical drawing of the car, that would be great to have.

Try swapping the cam sensor and see what happens.

Volvo 850 Maintenance And Service Documents

I remember looking at the ignition circuit for some reason and I think the coil is fed directly from the ECU. Not 100% on that, but you can find the Volvo service manual in PDF sections above. I know the ignition timing is not adjustable.

Check that the plug wires are in the right spot on the distributor? FYI the Haynes manual is wrong about their position on the distributor.
