SRS reset
96 glt If I fix the problem will the SRS light go out on it's own like other trouble codes
do, or will I still need to have it done by a "tech"(80$). I had the problem diagnosed
(passenger seat sensor intermittent) and the light reset 4 months ago. It
came back on but I have a seat I can swap out. If these lights don't reset themselves I won't know if the new seat is good.

Depends on the error. Some are soft codes that will stay in the system but not display the light, some are codes that must be reset.
Have you had the code read again, or are you just assuming it is the same issue?

Haven't replaced it. I haven't any complaints from any passengers (very limited use).
Will check out how it operates myself. Before I had it cleared (when it stayed on permanently) the SRS light would come and go (3 days on/ 3 weeks off ; no real pattern). So after months off no light it has been on steady for 4wks.

Rspi, I thought the passenger seat had a sensor in it to register whether the passenger front airbag needed to deploy or not?
