Static noise above passenger door

Static noise above passenger door
I'm making a to-do list of small repairs for my g/f's new-to-her '95 850 turbo. Among other things, I noticed an odd hissing, static-like noise coming from above the passenger side door. Upon further inspection I found the noise coming from a small plastic piece directly behind the oh-sh*t handle. There is one on the driver's side as well, but no noise there. Thepiece is about 3/4" square with small circle in the middle. The radio drowns it out pretty well, but it's pretty bothersome if you're in the passenger seat. The noise is there whether the car is stopped or moving.I've poked around the forums, but can't find any info. Anyone know what this piece is? Is it part of the stereo or alarm? Never seen anything like it. Looks too small to be a tweeter for the stereo. Thanks!

RE: Static noise above passenger door
Right behind the oh $hit handle, there is a temp sensor for Electronic Climate Control system. Someone said it was a cooling fan kind of device, but it is supposed to be a temp sensor. Remove the handle and visually inspect the sensor. The handle is held bytwo10mm bolts. This person said that his sensor was clogged with dust and after cleaning it, the noise he had stopped.

EDIT: Spraying the electrical connection with a can of contact cleaner is a nice follow-up.

RE: Static noise above passenger door
Simple fix - after removing the "oh-$h*t" handle and the cover for the temp sensor, i just cleaned out the dust bunnies with a small phillips screwdriver. Blew some compressed air through it, and re-assembled. All is quiet in my car now
PS - The noise was caused by dust getting clogged in the tiny fan that blows across the cabin temperature sensor.
