Default stick shift bottom

Does anyone know how to replace the hard plastic that holds the ball at the bottom of the stick shift? It's for a 1994 850 and although holding, is cracked and needs to be replaced. Thanks

Couple options.

1. if it is still holding on and is just cracked they use a hose clamp around it to keep it tight.

2. Pull the boot and shift **** then replace it. There is a special tool or you can make one with a copper pipe...someone on here did that and wrote up a tip on it.

boxpin, great minds think alike. But didn't want to take a chance on it cracking on the highway, so I already ordered one. How do you take out this thing they call the ball seat? Pull off? Pry off? There's an "O" ring under it.

Thanks

Show Tek, Sorry, I don't know what you mean by "replace with Crown Royal bag". Replace the ball seat with Crown Royal bag? What's a Crown Royal Bag?

I think he means to replace the boot with a crown royal bag. Purple bag with gold seams that comes with a bottle of Crown Royal (booze). Would look impressive

that's probably Matt01. He gets to the cracked ball seat but doesn't tell us how to remove it since he was focused on removing the shifter **** and boot.

My advice to all who want to remove the ball seat on the end of a standard stick shift? Don't!
