I have a 93 850 GLT automatic with 140,000 km
I started to have trouble with a flashing up arrow on the dash. ABS light is on. Check engine light on sometimes. Now the car is only in 3d gear and wont shift up or down. The code I am getting is 3-2-3 which is the speed sensor. Coulda faulty sensor cause this problemor doI need a new transmission?

 

Classic PNP switch symptoms. You can often get it to work again by quickly "rowing" the shifter back and forth from low to park a dozen times or so. Even if it starts working again you will need to address the problem by replacing the switch.

What port did you read the codes from? The transmission is port A-1 and I show 3-2-3 as a torque converter lock failure.

On my son's car, the only onewhere I have had PNP problems, it didn't want to work correctly until the transmission codeswere cleared.

I changed the PNP switch and cleared the codes. The first short test drive the car worked perfectly but when it was driven again it went to 3rd gear and stayed there. The 323 code came back and the up shift light also came on. My information says 323 is the speed sensor, is it?

 

What are you using to decifer the codes that you are getting?

Is/are the codes in a manual and if so, which one?

Did you go through the alignment procedure on the switch? It is very sensitive to alignment. One of the best procedures I have found without the alignment tool is here with a mirror:
