Default Supercharged

I have a 1993 Volvo 850, looking to make it faster, can it be supercharged, or is it even worth it? Is there any other way to get a little more horsepower out of that, headers etc?

If it’s not a turbo car is not worth the money or time.

The 93s were an odd transistion year which makes it a "worst" choice for upgrades, plus there's not a lot of performance parts for the NAs. I agree with 860 and IMHO the fastest way to get more HP is to simply buy an 850T and go from there. You can find a reasonably well sorted out 850T for under 2K, and a project car under 1K

2 guys did it, as I saw before. I have done a whole, and I mean a whole lot of research on the matter, since I am going to start a similar project with an Eaton m45 as a blower. There's a lot to keep in mind, so here's a list you'll have to think off.

-custom hosing for the intake-a bov, blow off valve (don't boost above your engine compression ratio or your engine will hurt)
-a vacuum hose that connects behind the throttle body-bigger injectors-
most likely you'll need a new ecu depending on your boost level goal
-very important: a mounting bracket for your blower
-also very important: a pulley with the right ratio(even more important: the pulley needs to be properly aligned with the other pulley(s)!)

It has been done, it can be done. It does ask a lot of creativity to do it for a reasonable price, especially if you want it to mount on your current engine. Expect to (depending on how creative and patient you can afford to be) invest around 1500 to 4000k into a built like this.

But you should do a lot, a ton of homework before starting.

If you are still going to try to do this project, i wish you all the best, it's without question not at all risk free, but i bet you'll be fine if you traverse carefully.

.
