Default T5-R

Did the T5-R come with a standard transmission at all? Everyone that I have seen has an Automatic transmission. Would changing it to a standard "de-face" the value of the car?

Thanks,
James Jackson

None were brought to the U.S.
Alot of people convert them to a manual transmission.
If I can get ahold of the parts I am going to do my Yellow one.

Well I found a yellow T5-R that I am going to try and buy. But Im going to have to convince my dad to loan me the money until I get enough. What is a good price on a yellow T5-R? I really really want this car, its one of my 3 dream cars. If he will loan me the money, I plan on selling my 96 850 GLT, finding a decent job (thats hard to do when your only 16 living in a rural area), and asking for some of the money to be takin off for christmas and my birthday.

Dad said no. Could I really get that much from my volvo, I didnt think I could. I figured maybe 2,000. But not that much, But im afraid if I sold the car, he would sell the T5-R. I have to drive to school and absolutely have to have a car. If I remember right, it said somewhere around 102,000 miles. Any other ideas, I really want this car and want to let it slip away.

Convince him it is a collector's item
Show him how rare it is.
Yes it is a Volvo but I think it is more rare than a 69 Mustang!!!

Maybe that will help also show him this post.

I tried that, he said that we didnt have the money (hes a TIGHTWAD, I know that if I sold my 850 he wouldnt have to pay as much, I told him it was just going to be a loan and that I would pay him back). Hes old fashioned, he doesnt want to do anything for me that his dad didnt do for him. His dad almost bought him a muscle car, but he ran it to hard and grinded the gears and Papaw said he wouldnt buy it for him if he was going to drive it like that. I even brought that up, and he still said no. So could I really get that much out of my 850? Thanks.

Not really sure check your local market for used 850's and see what they go for.

I looked on ebay and saw them going for around 2-2.5 grand. But I'm sure Ebay is probably not the best place. But are there any other tips or ideas on convinceing my dad to help out. I probably wont get this chance again.

My dad is too. Not 100%sure? what kind of condition is yours in, and how many miles. Well if you replaced thefenders that were messed up, and therewas nothing wrong withthe car, and it had a descent amount of miles, you might get 4-5 grand. look at cars.com and autotrader.com and see how much/howlongcars similar to yourshave been on the market.Best bet is to have the buyersmake an offer. Good luck, and hope you canconvince your dad.

I just got finished looking at autotrader.com. The average price was $3,973. Were not sure on how to check the mileage because it broke at 167,000 some miles. I would jump for joy if I could get 4 grand out of my car. Its been a daily driver car, some normal wear. The leather (paint?) is cracking kind of bad, but beside that and the fender, its all right.

K. 2-3.5 grand is my guess, unless you find some nut willing to give you 4-5 grand.

What about putting a reserve on it for $4,000? Of course after fixing the fender and stuff. How do I check that thing that holds the miles even if the odometer breaks?
