when driving around town my temp gauge sits around the middle of the gauge.when i went for my first motorway run in the car ,only 4 miles, i noticed that the gauge stayed on the first line at the bottom of the gauge.does this indicate a prob with engine or do i need to cover half the grille to keep the temp normal.

 

I would check your thermostat.They are known to brake regularly.They will brake and stay open.

 

if it is faulty thermostat can i drive it until i get the chance to get it fixed.will only be driving short distance to work .

 

You should be fine till you get it fixed.Just keep an eye on the temp guage.
