tire recommendations
don't know if we can discuss brand names but I need to replace the tires on my '95 850 non-turbo sedan. It had Coopers on it when I bought it and they stink. I have only stock rims by the way and already realize I will be going to the H speed rating, for price reasons and better selection. After looking on tire rack and other sites almost every tire recommeded for the car got poor reviews. I really like the look of the Bridgestone G009, but they got poor reviews, 2nd pick Fuzion HRi but they got poor reviews, Kumho estsa ASV got rave reviews but several local dealers in my area have quit selling Kumho altogether because of quality issues. Anyway I want good performance, all weather and quiet!!! I probably opened up a can of worms here as everyone will have a different opinion. One local shop said they could order Fulda's anyone had experience with them I didn't really find much about them on the web.

RE: tire recommendations
What tyre size have you got on at the moment?
From what I remember the stock is something like 195/60/r15 or 185/60/r15. My dad has continentals on his 850 GL (iirc 195/60/r15) and they seem alright although I don't think he noticed much difference between them and the cheapo tyres it came on (except for the extra tread).
I can't remember what I have on my T5 as the car came with them (what the police put on the car) but they're pretty good - I'll post back with what I've got on when I go out to the car however they are a different size so they might not be available for your tyre size.
Tbh: On the other cars I've owned (lower performance that the T5) I've never really noticed a huge difference between expensive tyres and cheap ones although I've always avoided retreads as I've heard too many horror stories.

RE: tire recommendations
Howdy folks
Went to my trusted tire shop today in person instead of just talking on the phone, the service advisor told me that although I'd read some unfavorable reviews on the net, he'd sold a pile of the G009's and never had any complaints. They were listed on the Consumer Reports Best Buy list, also they had a deal with buy 3 get 1 free and a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. So they were installed and I drove home, and they are very grippy, but a little more noisy on the pavement than I might like. Oh well I have 29 days left to decide.
Thanks for the input

If the noise doesn't bother you (it's not too bad & you get used to it), you'll probably love these tires. Like you said, they are very grippy and are real good in the wet. I don't know about snow though, never ran them in the winter as I have a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2's. If you want a winter tire, don't look any further than Hakki's
