Tracs Off and ABS Lights Both On
I took the console out to change the Master Window Control Switch and when I put it back together both theABS and the Tracs Off lights are staying on. Wife did say theTracs light was on the other day, then it went off. She's not sure if the ABS light was onor not. Sounds like it might be theABS module. It's on the 97 850 R.
It does sound like the beginning of the sometimes intermittent but eventual failure of the module. You might try cleaning the wheel sensors. I had an issue with my dd where I had similar symptoms as you and I found the lt ft sensor had one wire back out of the connector, it's been fine since remaking the connection. Maybe it's transient but once that alarm starts coming in it almost seems inevitable what the outcome will be. Most likely coincidental with regard to the console job I would think.
Oh crap man, I wanted you tell me I didn't plug something in right. How much does it run to get the module rebuilt and how much work is it to get it out?
It is a little harder on the turbo cars but if you remove the air box it makes it easier.

Try him Im not sure exactly how much from him but he gives a 5 year warranty.
When I can spare some $$ I am having the wifes rebuilt from him.
Hers is bad now.

Lights did not stay on today when I started the car. How do you know when you should make the move to have it rebuilt?

I found this link, but I haven't searched enough to find the instructions yet.

If you're already experiencing symptoms, imo, you might as well just get it repaired because it will fail sooner or later...As you see in the link, apparently the pins crack over time.
It's possible to fix yourself, time and patience to open it up and then a good eye and a magnifying glass to see the cracked joint(s). There is a link over there, (VS), you just have to weed through the thread to get to the bottom line of the procedure.
If it requires good eyesight you can count me out right from the start. I had to get help seeing the screws to take my console out. It's hell getting old, but I guess it beats the alternative.

Anybody know where to get the E5 Torx Wrench Socket? I tried Sears. They had one in a kit that costs $40.00, but did not sell it as a separate.
I started taking my module out today and couldn't get a 5/32" socket to work (which one of the web site said might work). I went to my local marine dealer and they didn't have any. The MATCO tool rep had been there earlier today and they called him and he does have one. He is going to bring it by the dealer tomorrow morning. Oh, and the best part, it only costs $5.00. Let's hear it for the MATCO man.
