I have the blinking Red flasher arrow in my 96 volvo 850. It seems to shift a little hard lately but I chalked it up to a weak motor/transmission mount. I drained out the fluid today and installed new but it still seems to shift a little hard. It shifts a little hard going from like reverse to drive too. Do I need a transmission or is this a sensor issue? Automatic Transmission. Turbo model. Just replaced, plugs wires, ignition coil.

Also has a sound like an arching wire coming from near or at the ignition coil. Any idea what that is?

 

That code on the ecu is never good. Have you searched it?

 

Yes everyone says it's a pnp problem. But those people never are having hard shifts.

 

The hard shifts may not have anything to do with the actual transmission problem. A lot of hard shift problems are connected to a worn transmission mount.
