Trim tool for headliner?

I need to replace my 850 sunroof that won't close. When I removed the replacement from a '93 at the wrecker I couldn't get the trim pieces off w/o breaking them. Is there a special tool for removing the clips that snap into the chassis, or for popping the trims off the clips?
Volvo charges $250.00 for those trim pieces so I'm feeling motivated to keep them in tact.

The sunroof trim ring almost always breaks when you remove it.
I have not been able to ever remove one in one piece.
Mine broke in my car when I was taking it out as well.
What I am going to try is to take some of the black rubber stripping from a 240 that goes in the door jam and use that to make a ring for the sunroof area. Yes it is super soft and flexible but atleast something will be there.

Actually, I'm not too worried about the interior ring; mine's already broken in one place. I think part of the problem with those is they seem to be cemented to the neoprene headliner backing, and of course they get fragile.
What I was referring to is the side trims that run up the posts and along the top of the doors. All those need to come off to get the headliner down Not knowing what holds them on, I ended up breaking pieces off the ones at the wrecker. Even after finding the yellow clips that snap into the roof edge and that hold the trim with another hook type snap-on, I couldn't get the trim pieces off w/o breaking them.
I asked at the local dealership and they send out anything like that —referred me across the street to an autobody that does their work, and they said, Yup, the pieces break. That's not a satisfactory answer! There must be a tool, like a flat bar with a specially curved end that can pop em apart. If you you all had to make one, what would you start with?

Not really any special tool that I know of. But yes they break most of the time.
The main problem is Cheap plastic and alot of heat. The clips are on the A-pillar and they get really hot when the sun beats on them(even worse here in FLA.)
What you can do to make it a little easier is pull the rubber door molding off so you can slide something in there and try to be more careful popping off.

The 850 sunroof molding is available here: http://www.headlinerexpress.com/serv...adliner/Detail
Normally you can just use a standard putty knife and work the molding loose to remove it without breaking it.
The plastic "push-in" clips along the rear roof area are removed by simply turning a quarter turn and pull out.
