Yessir. Click on "Private Messages" under where it says Welcome, 850R-1996.

This will take you to your settings screen where you will choose options from the control panel on the left. "Edit Avatar" will let you change ur profile pic. Also try and create a signature to be shown at the bottom of all your posts.

What DYNO did you go to, some read a little high, others read low.

A manual transmission with a Quaife Limited slip differential is the way to do it!

So I tried the MAF test yesterday. The car passed the test. It drove real erratic with the MAF unplugged.

I figure it is not a sensor issue anyway because the loss of pressure is very consisitent. Although it only boosts 5 psi, it is a ver clean non-erratic boost.

I would think most boost issues would cause a loss of boost as well as inconsistencies with boost.

My weekend filled up pretty quickly so I was not able to run diagnostics.

However I did:

Stain the bumpers black (use forever black from ipd)

Painted my grill black but left the outter brim chrome.

I will have to run diagnostics next weekend :(

i like black bumpers :)

You have an intake leak. Check the vacuum lines especially the Turbo Control Valve. If it leaks you may get a 'check engine' light as a present. Anyway, the engine will drop the boost automatically to save the engine. Find the leak, find the problem.

Will this leak likely hiss when I run the pressure test this weekend? I plan to pressurize the whole system from the turbo inlet and beyond. Thanks for the answer boxpin

I think you may be on to something because it seems like my car is controlling my boost. Like when I said the boost is so clean almost as if the car was supposed to be 5 psi stock (not erratic boost).

And then to add to the issue, yesterday I drive the car and run a very consistent 6 psi.

It is incredible how I can notice each psi of boost I am lacking. The car felt a little better at 6 psi but not as good as when I had 7.5 a couple weeks ago.

Are the terms TCV, BCS, and pressure regulator all words to describe the one thing or am I wrong?

tech 07-15-2009 07:31 PM

TCV= Turbo control valve adjusts the boost in the factory setup.
BCS= Boost control solenoid same as above.
Pressure regulator maybe but never heard to referred to as that.

If you add pressure you should hear it leak.

Saleen9090 07-15-2009 08:09 PM

Where is my TCV?

tech 07-15-2009 08:15 PM

Mounts to the side of the air box. It has 3 hoses and an electrical plug going to it.

Saleen9090 07-16-2009 12:00 AM

Oh ok. I misunderstood. I thought you were saying the TCV and BCS were different.

I am wondering about this too. Is there a way to pressure test your system for leaks? I know there is a small pin hole at the bottom of the intercooler that will let some pressure off. I have noticed a lack of power in my 850 too. Seems boost climbs but just never really goes. I just bought a IPD ECU and do not notice any more top end than stock. I have got to have something wrong but just cant pinpoint it.

I am going to do a write up on this ASAP.

does this mean you found the problem? (fingers crossed)

Sorry, forgot to specify. I did nto find the problem but did a write up on how to test for leaks.

It's good that we have what may be the same problem because we can figure it out together.

How many psi are your boosting?

boxpin 07-16-2009 10:11 AM

putting a manual boost gauge on today, will know more this afternoon.

Your ipd tune should bring you 15 psi right?

Saleen9090 07-16-2009 10:37 AM

I may have a new way of describing my problem. I saw somehwere someone posted that they feel two surges of boost. It used to be that if I hit the accelerator to trigger the turbo I would get stage 1 (boost spooling softly)(low demand for boost) then when I would floor it I would get this awesome kick into stage 2 (boost spooling instantaneously)(high demand for boost). But now I accelerate slowly and get stage 1 but then when I floor it it seems like the engine hauls more but the boost climbs slowly as if in stage 1.

Sometimes I think in econ mode the car tends to skip stage 2 altogether because as always in econ mode I notice a slow spooling. So I guess for some to reference my situation it feels like when I am in sport mode I'm really in econ.

Even thought SOMEHOW my car has climbed up from 4 psi to 6 psi, I don't notice this two stage boost anymore.

Please someone tell me you know what I am talking about.

Cant say yet, yes its supposed to do that but I am looking at the cars boost gauge, its not that accurate. I will say this, since the boost gauge on the car is suppost to be 10psi at the top of the scale, I am only reaching about 6 or 7 even with the IPD ECU. the manual gauge will tell me more.
