URGENT! CAR TO BE SHIPPED TOMORROW WON'T START
Ok, so were in the process of moving back to the mainland from Hawaii and we were told we had to clean the engine bay before the shipper would take the car. No biggie its been done before a few times. Well this time we started the motor and it was running and had it running for about 10 minutes then all of a sudden. cough cough sputter dead. Now it won't start back up, water and degreaser was what we used to clean the engine bay. I don't see why this would cause a problem but its beyond me or my father as to why it won't start now. Any help will be greatly appreciated as we have to take the car to the docks to have it shipped tomorrow.

Check the distributor cap and rotor. What about the spark plugs? Does the starter move when you turn the key?
This is exactly why I NEVER have any of my carsĀ“ engine bay pressure washed. I just take a wet cloth and do it manually with TLC.

If you have access to compressed air, take it and blast out the ends of the wires, distributor, tops of the spark plugs, and all the little nooks and crannies that are associated with the electrical. I did this same thing to my 960 a few months ago...washed everything, and it ran great and then after 5 min ran like crap. Turned out that water had leaked under the plastic cover that goes over the spark plugs, and had gotten one of the plugs fairly wet. Compressed air and leaving the hood open in the sun for about 1/2 hr took care of everything.
