Default Volvo 850 1993 Buy ?

I'll be looking at an 850 later today and am wondering what I should be looking for. It has 135K on it and it's a 5 speed. How can I tell if the T belt is good and what else besides the glaring check engine lights, A/C and things should I check? The guy wants 2,800 here in the Atlanta area.

Need a reliable car for high mileage daily commute.

Many Thanks!!

Dan

The 93 was the 1st year for the 850, so it is not totally compatable with the 94-97. Personally I would stay away from the 93 model year. I think $2800 is quite a bit for the car also.

I would definetely look around some more. Around here you can get a S/V70 w/similar miles for that price.

Sorry couldn't be of much more help than that...

I purchased and own a '93 850, and personally, regret not looking around for a newer one. The '93s, as tech said, are not very compatible with the '94-'97. I paid about $1800 for mine with a 150k miles or so. After doing research, I really wish I would've gone for a 94-97 turbo, because it wouldn't have been much more to buy.

IMO, don't go with the '93.

I also try to stay away from the 1st model of anything built, no mater what it is. I want the bugs worked out 1st and then I'll by the 2nd or 3rd year model.
