I have a 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Sedan that is stock. I was wondering how much horsepower these things have stock at the wheels. I know they are rated at 222hp but I know that is not at the wheels. Also, I haven't really ridden mine hard. I was just wondering that if floored from a dead stop in a straight line, will the tires spin easily? I was suprised how fast it is.

Figure about 10%-15% less horsepower at the wheels than at the crank

 

and no, your tires will not spin form a dig.. unless your manual, but they didnt make manual turbos in the USA.

If you want your wheels to spin, make a turn when it's wet out and floor it. that should do it!

 

Mine do but thats running 12PSI boost.
They start spinning at about 15-20MPH after taking off from a dead stop.

 

How are you running that much boost? Inquiring minds want to know <grin>

 

1. MBC (Manual Boost Controller)

2. ECU upgrade

These are your options for turning the boost up on your turbocharged 850.

 

The Yellow one has a Upsolute tuned computer.
The white one has a MBC.

 

Ahhhh, I see. I wouldn't mind doing that to our 850, but since my teenage son is the primary driver......
