Volvo 850t poor throttle response, lag, lunging
I have a 94 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon with 180k on it. Recently I began having major issues with throttle lag and jerking. When I am stopped at a light and lightly push on the accelerator, the car doesn't respond for about 1 second (not turbo lag, it doesn't do anything). The car then catches up. Also if I am driving between 20-35 mph and am trying to hold a constant speed, the car lunges then pulls back then lunges then pulls back etc. It's almost as though I'm lightly pumping the gas in and out. The issue came on all the sudden one night. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

check for fuel pressure, how is ur TB. a dirty TB can cause jerking. about your not responding for a second, how you is your tranny fluid. l had the same problem about two years ago with my 94 850. l had nooo fluid running in the tranny for months and it kicks in after 2 to 3 second after a stop till l went to walmart for an oil change and they gave me a notice that my car was running without a tranny fluid. that delaying stopped after filling up my tranny with fluids

When I push on the gas petal the engine doesn't even begin to rev up for about a second, the tranny is quick once the engine revs up, which makes me think it may not be the tranny.
yeap true, check for fuel pressure with a warm engine. pressure should be between 39-42 l guess. but its should be within that range. it should not be any lower than that. check that and get back to us
