Default What cam tool?

What cam stabilizing tool do you like that I can use on my 850 and S40? I need to do a timing belt, don't want the pulleys to move. I have to do the seals, wish that I could stabilize them from the non-belt side also.

matty: if he is doing seals though, that tool isnt gonna work.

Alan: you CAN stabilize them from the non belt side, but you have to make yourself a tool for it. I did it when I changed my cams.

That tool works good on the 850's.
But the VVT cars it is not strong enough to hold the cams when removing the center VVT screw. You will need to build something heavier to hold the cams.

Oh darn...and I thought I had it all in place now. How do I build a 'beefier' one? I looked at the price tag of a manufactured one...I might as well have someone do the job for me at that price. Darn!

You can try heavier steel but not sure if it will work. Or if you have a grinder start with round stock and grind off the sides leaving a slit in the middle. Then drill a hole and screw it into the cams. But you will have to weld something between the 2 cams to hold things tight.
