Default What kind of break fluid should I use?

Just noticed the "Break" indicator light the other day. Went to the Auto Zone and asked them for break fluid for a 1994 Volvo 850. They sold me a DOT 4 fluid. Is this the right kind?

Also, do I only add so that it comes up to between the Min and Max lines? If I add a little too much, will it do any damage?

Thanks

it's "brake" fluid. and dot4 is fine. Overfilling can damage the master cylinder, so keep it between the min and max lines.
