Default What model?

I have the original window sticker for my 1994 850 sdn. What determines the model designation. as in base car or GLT? Nothing on the original sticker states either designation.

The engine code in the VIN can tell you if it is 850 Turbo. I don't believe that there is anything the distinguishes base model from GLT. What kind of wheels do you have -- steel or alloy? What kind of material are the seats made of -- cloth or leather?

Robert, I have alloy wheels, leather seats, nordic package, moon roof, power windows, keyless entry, alarm and auto trans. It says it is an 850. What is an 850 GLT? I am just curious because I have seen these designations for years and never really knew what the difference was. I would have assumed it was an entire optional package but I have never seen it listed as such and wondered why some cars were labeled 850GLT and others just 850 on the trunck lid.

I am relatively new to the Volvo world.

Looking a page 139 of my June 1994 issue of Car & Driver magazine -- Long-Term Volvo 850GLT.

Car & Driver performs a 35,000 mile test in the dead of winter of 1992 to fetch an early-production 850GLT from Volvo headquarters in Rockleigh, New Jersey.

The article says that it is a 1993 850GLT Sedan. Base Model sold for $24,525. GLT sold for $26,925. Turbo sold for $30,410. 1993 base model has standard features of power windows, power door locks, and power driver's seat, alloy wheels, and air-conditioning. In 1994, the power seats and alloy wheels were no longer standard.

My educated guess is that the distinguishing features of GLT are memory power seats, alloy wheels, and keyless entry/alarm.
