Default Wheels and Tires for my Volvo 850 T5

Hello Everyone,

I have recently bought my first car/volvo. A 1997 850 T5. When I bought the car it only came with winter tires so i need to buy some summer tires/all seasons.

I want 17 inch titans but my uncle thinks i should stick to the stock 16 inch rims.

I wanted to know if going 17 inch is ok. will it do anything to the car. Also if I do get 17 inch wheels what tires do i need to balance everything out?

Thanks, Lenny

That's a tough one Lenny. The Titans look great, but they are not that good of a wheel. They bend real easy to the point where Volvo actually was buying them back. That being said I still want a set for my 95 T5R, which has 17" Volans from my 97 850 R on it right now. The 16" wheels you have right now are probably Columbas and I don't care for them at all. I have a set of four in the basement. What you really want is a set of 17" Pegasus's. They are five spoke that look very similar to the Titans. I heard you can buy Titans brand new for around $260 each at a dealership over the Internet.

The Titans and Volans call for 205 45 17, but I run 215 45 17 on mine and they are fine. People who went to 224 45 17 have quite a bit of rubbing. That's too big for the car. On my 15" wheels I have Kumhos and on the 17's I just bought a set of Yokohama's from tirerack.com. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply JimKW,

All three rims are very nice. I actually really like the Volans that you have on your car. I have a white 850 and they look awsome on your car. So I do have some options now. I think i might be able to pick up the Volans for about $600-700 Cdn (used). Is that a good price?

Thanks, Lenny

Rota makes some nice wheels for our cars. Cheap, light, and strong. A combo that usually dosn't happen.
www.oakos.com or www.subiedude.com and look for the volvo lug pattern.
