Default Wiring for Trailer Lights

Just picked up a used trailer hitch for my '93 850 and installed and now want to wire-up for trailer lights. Where is the best place to tap into the parking and break lights for a connection to a trailer?

Thanks,
Ron

Ron,

If U.S. 850s are like U.K. 850s there is a pre-wired socket in the luggage area, usually under the floor or behind one of the side panels.

The socket is intended to take the Volvo pre-wired plug for the trailer lights but, with the use of a multi-meter, you can determine which wire feeds what and either make your own plug (difficult) or splice into the wire using scotchlocks (easy).

This prevents any problems with the bulb failure device.

Bill.

I looked at the wiring to the tail lights in the truck and there is not connector for trailer wiring. There is a light control module.

Does anyone know what wires to tap into for connecting a 4-wire trailer connector?
