Default Yeah I'm coming back*Chicagolanders help*

Hey guys, remember me?

Yeah, screw Hondas...great little cars, but I need something a bit larger and not scary to drive.

I'm back on the 850 market, or an S70 but good luck finding a T5 for cheap.

I can get about $2400 for my Del Sol.

I found this again:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

They have had it for a while, and I don't see it going anywhere, so I would presume its been sitting for a while.

That's about the best deal I can find though.

Is there anyone willing to go look at it for me if you have some free time?

I called about it and he said they can't go any lower and no one seems to want an old Volvo for that much.

I am willing to pay that much for it though because I LOVE that color.

Now, I have to drive it two and a half hours home. Think it would be able to do that if it ran okay? They have no history on the car at all, so I'm in the dark on whats been done to it.

Or, if anyone has an 850 locally they want to sell for a reasonable amount, let me know.

I might wait until summer so I can sell the Del Sol and just drive my Celica.

Isn't that the exact same one you were looking at before? Honestly, I wouldn't buy a car that didn't have some sore of history to it. If you don't know who owned it, how it's been driven, routine maintenance performed, preventive maintenance, etc etc, it can become a huge money pit just to get it driving properly.

It's only 1900 bucks. You're not going to get a creampuff for that amount. Rule of thumb is you should expect to pay $3,000 for a reliable car. Less than that and you are taking a chance.

I looked at a car in the Chicago area one time and found an independent Volvo guy to inspect it for me. He told me to stay away from the piece of junk. Best $75 I ever spent. But it was a yellow T5R going for around $5K if I remember correctly.

I knew you'd be back.... You can't go from your 850, to that little sardine can. Welcome back
