You are right about the load not being evenly distributed on the bearing so it could cause premature wear. I am not a fan nor would I ever recommend using it. However, the car is mostly driven locally by my son who is a careful driving enthusiast (there is such a thing and only one I know) I am hoping nothing will happen. At almost 18 years old we have a good relationship meaning he will allow me to take the car and relinquish his license voluntarily even though he does not have to, if he gets in trouble with the car. He's also mature for his age and has good reasoning skills so I don't worry about him beating the car. He watches the road (as if he was on the NÜRBURGRING without the speed ) for bumps, pot holes and tries to be easy on the clutch knowing it is worn at this time.
25mm or 1" is the max that I'm comfortable with. No one at the C30 forum has had problems with the 25mm and being in the rear which is lighter than the V40 and V50 with the same chassis I'm taking an educated chance. The C30 guys are racers / track guys but we are not. I'm hoping with a good cleaning and well rounded torquing we won't run into issues. Thanks for the reminder and caution to other who are thinking about using spacers. One last thing these are billets instead of cast so there is a little more comfort in that also.
