Default Immobilizer activated for no reason.

I have a C30 T5 manual transmission and although the breaks are good, the break fluid level is good, and no idiot lights have come on, when I went to start the car it wouldn't turn over because, according to the message display, the immobilizer was on because of break failure. I tried the other key same results. I tried changing the key battery, but it didn't help. The other night I was out and it took a second try to turn over. Nothing was on the display and no idiot lights so I figured it was late and I had changed from heels to flats and I didn't adjust the seat so I didn't have the clutch fully depressed. Any suggestions?

Normally the problem with the immobilizer is caused by a fault in the ignition switch.

Hi Damien--

Thank you for your quick reply. By any chance do you have a ballpark figure on the cost of such a repair?
