Default Power fluctuations

Hello I’m a newbie here and my name is Eric. this enquiry is for my friend who is experiencing weird symptoms. Basically it’s a loss of power together with a hunting where the revs rise and fall on start up? It goes away after a few moments driving, but seems to lack power especially on inclines! Unfortunately he had a minor shunt on the front and a local garage suggested the turbo intercooler had been damaged? I researched on Utube how to remove the bumper, and noticed there was a boost sensor mounted on the pipework! Could this produce the symptoms? Any advice greatly appreciated.

the boost sensor is measuring the pressure of the charged air between the turbo and the MAF. So if you have a tear in the tubing or a hole in the intercooler, the ECU's gonna know about it via the boost sensor's signal. Obviously a loss of boost pressure will impact power and how the engine runs after idle.

Here's a useful link that should show you wear the sensor is, and how to remove the front bumper.
