Default '04 c70??

I am considering purchasing an 04 C70 with the 2.3 HPT. I plan on having it as my everyday vehicle.

Is this a wise decision? I have been seeing them with around 40-60k mileage.

Is there a way to see w/out paperwork that the timing belt has been done?

I really wanted a manual trans-however Volvo Corporate told me that only 107 were made in 2004.

Any help on this buying decision would be greatly appreciated! Also considering an 04-05 S60R if I don't get confident replies on the C70.

I bought one less than a month ago. An '04 with just a little over 40k. The HPT is a scream to drive. I got it for a little over 14 and feel like I got a great deal. I bought it from a dealership and you would have thought I paid $40,000 for it the way I have been treated.

The car was early present for me from my wife for turning 50 this coming August.

And here it is (and a great car it is also):

Blue with tan top. No warranty other than the usual 30 day for a used car. Was not eligible to be certified.

After the first few days I went back to the dealer with a list of a few things (some bulbs needing replacing, fuel door latch needing fixed, etc) and they took care of it all no charge.

The service records I got with this car had it at 33000 miles in 10/08. It suffered from, if anything, underuse and the prior owner not taking care of the little things.

I am going to follow the recommended service intervals from here on out. This is my first Volvo and first convertible. I am one happy Gator!

I just bought a low-mileage '02 coupe and am very pleased so far. I'm coming from much faster cars, but nevertheless, it's still quicker than I anticipated. Handles quite well for a FWD car on narrow tires too.

I would think a dealer could run the service history for you to answer your question about the timing belt replacement.

thanks for the info...the body style just hits the mark-i like it better than the newer version..
never have driven one, so my questions are going to be the everyday reliability and leg room, i am 6'4" and about 230lbs...assuming those things are okay...i am in!!

You're a little bigger guy than I am and I sit pretty comfortable in mine. I always sit "big" in a car cause I don't slouch when I drive. The power, multi-positional seats should help.

Remember the 04 is a true 4 seater convertible so I would think there would be plenty of room.

By the way, the recommended service interval for a timing belt on this vehicle is 100,000 miles. Based on what you have written, you should be ok (according to volvo anyway).

I've never owned as nice a car as this one. It is definitely the most fun I have ever had either driving or riding (when my wife takes my keys!)

i understand that the glass back window is a problem if it comes unstitched...you have to replace the whole top $5g's...and window regulators...other than that it should be good!
