Default 17'' or 18''?

Hey everyone
Have a C70 2003, silver color. Have 17 chrome canisto's. 2 of them are bent so am thinking of replacing all the rims with aftermarket. Not sure if I should do 17s or 18s. Driving in LA which has alot of potholes. For 17s, am considering MSR 068 and for 18, MSR 045, both in silver color. See links below.
Appreciate advice.
Thanks
Alex

17" no problem with standard shocks, 18" research shock compatiblity. I think your vehicle came with both size rims. Don't know about the shocks. Alot of folks on this site do, wait a bit you will get some good replies. Welcome to the club!

Thanks for the reply and the welcome! Will wait and see what the rest of the bunch have to say then. You're right, they did come with optional 18s but I'm wondering if the ride is gonna be to harsh with 18s...

With respect to wanting to make your wheels look sharp again, why mess your c70 up with wheels that look like they go with a tricked-out Escalade? I'd keep it simple and try to replicate the original rims. The C70 was carefully designed in all aspects, including the look of the wheels. Don't mean to offend; just my opinion.

Question along the same lines...I have a 2004 C70 with the "Cratos" wheels. I am not a fan of these wheels - and have decided at some point to replace with the Canisto wheels. The Canistos were not offered on the 2004's for some reason - but its safe to assume these would fit a 2004, right? Both are 17 inch...I am of the school of thought that I want OEM wheels, but willing to play a little bit loose with the years offered...

I went with 18's on my 2000. I had to get something for summer and these were the best thing i could find at the time. Just so you all know, I hate them. I wish i would have gone with a silver or chrome finish. Growing up through the 80's and 90's, poor people with junk cars never had hubcaps on them and had black rims... that is still what runs in my mind today when I see most black rims, ugly, poor, junk car lol. Of course this is just my opinion, I don't mean to offend anybody.

I tried to keep the styling similar to the canisto rims, 5 spoke split. I agree that keeping a similar styling as the stock rims will look the best at the end of the day. I also found out that if you get rims that have a lip, I think it makes the diameter look smaller than what it actually is. I feel my stock 17's look as big as my 18's with the lip. Maybe it is just the design of my rim?? IDK.

Hope this helps you in your decision.

Default Canisto rims

I perchased 2 of these rims off e-bay for $116 ea. to replace 2 curb ruined rims. They look just like brand new. They ship a return shipment slip, that goes to another company who pays $15.00 - $25 for the old rims shipped in the same boxes, depending on condition of old rims. FYI

Default 17"!

Hi -

I purchased a 2000 HPT Coupe with 39,000 in September. It came with ugly chrome aftermarket 18" rims. I bought Borbet BS5's from Tirerack.com and I love them. Low cost, great looks (almost look OEM) and the car drives MUCH better with the smaller rims. Good luck!
