1998 c70 headlights......

One option is to replace the headlight lenses with E-codes (about $40 a side). these are the European spec lenses that shine the low beam up higher with a sharper cut off (technically not DOT approved but who's to know?). The lenses are held on by a set of metal clips so its easy to do. I would not recommend going to a higher wattage bulb as that risks frying wires/connectors, but you may want to try some PIAA 55W super whites. You may also want to consider adding fog lights/driving lights (factory fogs+ dash switches can be found on ebay). There are after market HIDs but you'd need a proper kit (ie with ballast etc) which is $$$ - not some blue light special or LEDs.

i recently bought a volvo v70 and the headlights suck too. so i got some hid headlights and put them in last night. i have the same hid lights in my other cars and swear by them. the hid's did NOT improve the light output as i had hoped. i took the headlight assembly apart before i got the hid's and it appears the reflective coating instead of being chrome reflective is just grey.i want to see if i can find a can of chrome paint and repaint the reflectors. this might solve the problem of low light output. also headlight wire insulation is dried out
