Default 1999 c70 2.3l starts very hard

Starts very hard when cold but runs good when it finally starts up, only code is P0014, if the camshaft position sensor was bad would the engine run?

yes the P0014 is kind of an ambiguous code that just says the variable timing on the exhaust cam reading is out of range. this can be a bad sensor or the vvt solenoid. Low oil pressure can cause the engine to throw the code as well so make sure you have clean oil of the correct viscosity, a quality oil filter (budget oil filters can lower oil pressure) and look for any sludge build up from past dirty oil (peek in the oil filler cap - you should see some staining but no crud that can be scraped off). I'd probably look at other issues on the cold start - ie engine coolant temp sensor - Does your car read a positive temp on the gauge when the engine is dead cold? Dirty MAF or idle control valve - pull the MAF and see if there's gunk or dirt in the intake (could be related to clogged PCV plumbing and again related to dirty oil in the past). When was the last good tune up the car had - wires/plugs/rotor/cap/air filter?

It looks like a code P0118 coolant temp high input!

Is there two sensors for the coolant temp, one for the fan and one for the gauge and computer? One is near the thermostat (for the fan). not sure where the other one is located.

The sensor near the thermostat was reading a little high on ohms, so I replaced the sensor fixed that problem also the battery had a bad cell which caused the computer to go crazy!!
