1999 c70 is it a bad tranny or bad sensor(s)
Driving my 1999 c70 one day out of the blue, the trans stopped working, I pulled over turned the car off, started it and the tranny worked fine for the next 2 weeks, then the tranny went out again, turned the car off, started it up again and went home. The following morning went to a tranmission place and they told me I neede to rebuild my tranny. This thing with my tranny has beeb going on now for a month and half, the car still runs, but affraid it might leave me out in the middle of nowhere. My check engine light came on, is this the sign that I have a bad tranny or mabey one or two bad sensors? Doing some reaserch I found out this car is equipped with with a speed sensor and a tcm sensor. If one of these sensors go bad, does it make the tranny have these issues or again am I looking at rebuilding my tranny?

I will know this monday afternoon what the code is. This is very strange, I was driving the car all day yesterday and planning an using it today. When I schedualed the appointment and spoke to the owner of "situation volvo" one of the first things that came out of his mouth after answering my question was, "it seems like you need a new tranny" and the dude watched me drive away in my volvo c70, do you think this guy know anything about trannys, volvos?

I had a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) go out and it caused the transmission to go into limp home mode briefly. I'd reset the computer and then it would slam itself between gears if you gave it more than like 2% throttle. Found a post on here where a guy had the same issue. Replaced both VSS' since i couldn't figure out which was which. All has been well for about 2yrs.

Check the ABS sensor!
My car acted like there was a problem with the transmission. My mechanic changed out the Speed sensor. Problem continued Ended up taking it to the Volvo dealership 2 hours away and they said it was the ABS sensor...hmmm....could that be why the ABS and check engine lights had been on for ages? It seemed to be the answer. The car has run like a dream ever since. Hope this helps you.
