1999 C70 Power Seat Problem
Hello there:
The driver's side seat on my 1999 C70 is dead. The passenger's is OK.
It has been acting funny for quite some time, running roughly when moving backward.
The other night while driving I detected a mild burning electronic smell and the next day discovered the seat was dead.
I checked and actually swapped the seat circuit breakers and no change.
It looks like the seat "Brains" are in a small black box under the seat and I have a few questions.
1. Is this the likely culprit?
2. Is the box swappable between seats?
3. How does one go about taking the seats out to do so. I removed the front mounting bolts and the seat swings up a bit, but not enough to access the rear cables connecting into the control box.
any help is REALLY appreciated!
Thanks,
Ron Y

Thanks for your help with the Power Seat Problem
Tech: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!!
The microswitch was indeed hanging loose. I can't figure out where it goes but I black taped it closed and the seat works. The "Auto Slide Forward/Back" when tilting the back does not work, but I really do not care about that.
Is there any other safety reason not to leave it taped closed as it is now?
Thanks ,
Ron Y

Volvo charged me $1,000.00 to replace the 1st switch. It failed 9 months later, I replaced it the 2nd time, and used a heavier spring. I removed the seat and put it up on my bench.
