Default 2000 C70 audio system-- replacement

I'd like to update and replace the original audio system. I'd appreciate any brands/makes or ideas particularly if you've done this successfully. Thanks!

I know someone is going to say DynaAudio or DynAudio something like that... I personally would go with something else.

1. Boston Acoustic makes really nice speakers. I had them in my 1995 Volvo 850 N/A awhile back and loved them.

Are you planning an amp (4 channel or bigger) and an amp/subwoofer? If so I really like JL Audio. Again I had that in my old Volvo as well and loved them while I had them.

I replaces all my speakers with alpines R series. and they are sacks of ****. I would have kept my blown factory ones.

they prob sound like that because you need to amp them..... Im running MB quart components in my car, those are my favorites for front speakers they are getting about 150 watts each...

Look into some speaker by Focal. They make really home and theatre speaker, but have a car audio division and make some speakers that get absolutely awesome reviews. I had a set in a 1980 Porsche 911SC a couple years ago and they just blew me away. I had an Alpine head unit and an amp, but can not remember the brand on the amp. No subwoofer though, cause I really do not like that much bass in my car. Definitely have a subwoofer on my home theatre system though along with KEF speakers.

Now my question: Why are you changing the factory system in a C70? I test drove a 98 C70 once with the high end factory system and thought it was the best I have ever heard. That's the only thing I liked about the car better than my 850 R.

The cd player ispretty weak-- very slow to move to the next song, lots of skipping. Fading optionto the back is a bit strange because there's barely any sound coming from the back speakersand I'm not even sure if there truly are 12 speakers in this convertible as the specs state (just got it last week).

If a did buy a new stereo/player would it be a problem to connect all 10/12 speakers to the new unit?

You would have to get a double DIN head unit. And for the most part, the ones out there, look really trashy. I'm a minimalist. I'd rather pay more upfront for the premium audio, then get something that looks out of place. As for the speakers, Infinity Kappas are nice, JBL's or Boston Acoustic, and if you have the Dynaudio's keep those!

i like sony for sure. when i was in Japan there were alot of double DINs that were real light shows, but thats cool for me. i really need something that will play MP3s. i searched and readi tried to make a RW-CD and recorded on the lowest speed and it still wouldn't play

That crappy sound in the back when fading on the cd with pro logic setting is correct. It's part of the surround sound dynamic. Try the other two settings, and you will get the fading results you want. My dealer told me never use prologic on anything but cds. On my 2002 C70 this was a $500 extra. Can't understand why you'd want to replace.
