Hi all I have an 04 C70. The breaks work fine but when I bought the car in 08 I noticed that the front pads and possibly the rotors would need replacing soon. 2 years and 15000 miles later I checked the brakes and the pads do not seem that much more worn than they were 2 years ago but the rotors do seem more worn. One even has a grove in it. When I bought the car I bought new pads and rotors from Volvo and the Volvo mechanic told me that I should just run the front brakes till they the end. I am wondering if I run into any danger if I keep driving the car this way. The car brakes fine and there is no noise. Is there a noise the brakes would make if they are at their limit? I will do the brakes myself but its just too hot to do them now and would rather wait till Fall or winter.

Is it normal for the disks to wear but not the pads?

Any tips on doing the brakes? Can I use a C clamp to compress the caliper or will I need a special brake tool?
