Default Antenna mast install...

I bought a replacement antenna mast from FCP. I easily got the old antenna mast out and have been able to get the new antenna mast to thread in but can't get the antenna to fit into the tube. The new antenna seems to be 0.020" larger diameter than the old mast. Should it be fairly easy to fit the antenna mast into the tube or am I just not pushing hard enough?

It should slide in there easy. Did you remove the old sleeve from the old mast?

Yes I removed the metal sleeve that wedges the antenna mast in. I'm guessing 1 of 2 things is happening. 1. FCP sent me a wrong part or a part that is out of spec. 2. My car no longer has an OEM antenna motor (although the old part and the new part look identical).

Just pull the trunk interior panel back and look at the motor, should have a Volvo sticker on the housing. If the new part is larger then I doubt it will feed into the housing. IIRC the C70 has a specific mast for both the coupe and the convertible. 3 and 5 section mast respectively.

mkc70, thanks for the clarification. I didn't even notice the new antenna mast had 5 sections, but it does. Looking at FCP's catalog, they don't list a replacement antenna mast for the coupe so it looks like I accidentally ordered an antenna mast for a convertible. Does anyone know who carries a replacement antenna mast for the coupe? Anyone want to buy an antenna mast for a convertible?

Can anyone confirm that the correct Volvo part number for a C70 Coupe antenna mast is 9494389?

Call them up and exchange it for the proper one. They have many parts that are not listed on the website.

Thanks for the recommendation. I called FCP and they are special ordering the correct antenna and allow me to return the convertible version. Very cool company to deal with!

I've got the same problem. Can't find a replacement antenna mast for my 2000 C-70 COUPE. Order one already and it did not fit. Diameter larger than barrel of power unit. My unit is a 3-section antenna. Can you tell me who "FCP" is and how I can contact them?

FCP Groton (www.fcpgroton.com) They have a 15% off sale today too. As I mentioned before you need to call them and get the Coupe version (3 sections)
