Default c70 blown motor

My 2000 c70's motor is gone. I was wondering if any other engines fit. All info is greatly appreciated. Current blown motor is a 2.3 turbo.

Why not replace it with what you have, just with a new one or a used one from a junk yard or salvage yard.

Its actually my friends car but he doesnt have internet. Here is what happened, he just bought the car for $8,000 dollars 3 months ago. After a couple weeks it started acting up, so parts were replaced and so on. Finally the motor blew (spun rod?, timing belt broke?), not sure what caused it but there is a hole in the block. He still owes alot on the car and wants to do the cheapest swap he can. The 2.3 seems to be hard to find and expensive, is there anywhere good to find a short block? Doesnt seem to be worth putting another $3,000 dollars into this (problematic) car. His last resort is to have it repossesed, so much for good credit.

The 850 Turbos used the 2.3 motor. I'm not sure if one would work in a C70 or not, but they are pretty easy to find for under $1,000. Hopefully somebody will know if it will work.

The 850 motor won't work with the 2000 C70.
Oiling ports are different due to VVT.

............and don't forget OBDII. If the 2000 had it, then it has to be replaced with another OBDII engine or else the harness will not mate up

r.

Thanks for the replies guys, any idea on where to get a short block? Called all my local salvage yards no luck. All I found locally was a full swap for $2700. So no other motor would go in easy with little mods?

No it has to be a 1999 or newer motor. The 2.5 should be the same as far as parts.
