Blower Motor won't shut off, Resistor blown?
Hi everyone.
My Blower motor runs at the highest speed regardless of where I have the control setting at. The only way to shut if off is to pull the fuse.
I looked at my Haynes manual it says to check the OBD codes so I bought a $50 reader but no codes relating to the blower came up.
I've been told by the parts counter guy that its the resistor but I've also been told there are two.
i. How do I tell which one is gone?
ii. Where are they located?
Winter is approaching soon wondering if you guys can help me out before I begin to freeze!!

So when the fan is in the off position, the fan is still running? If that is the case, there is an issue with your ECC.
As for the codes, you need a special Volvo code reader to reader the ECC codes. The only codes you can read with an OTC scanner are the fuel codes.

The ECC is one whole unit. What I would do is remove it with the connectors still connected and see if power is getting through the fan control switch even when it is off, then you will need to replace the whole ECC.
Thanks FCP
i'll try that out and get back to you

I've been reading around and have noticed that the resistor is only on the None-auto climate control. I have Auto-climate Control do you know if there is a difference?
