Default Foggy Windshield

So for the past 2 months I've been having this problem with my windows. I will get in my car and get about 10-15 min into my drive and my windshield begins to fog over. No matter what the weather it happens. But it takes my AC an insanely amount of time to clear it. Is there something that needs to be replaced or repaired? I don't think I have any other problems (currently). So I don't know where to look. Is therea problem with my A/C? Thanks for the help!

You probably have a bad heater core leak. When the heater core goes the winshield will fog up even if the defroster isn't on because the engine coolant flashes to steam when it leaks from the core. The heater core and o-rings are under $140 FROM FCP Groton

And you're probably talking a couple of hours of labor to do the job. Of course your local Volvo stealer will charge you much more than this.

Pull down the carpet next to the gas pedal and look behind the dash for coolant.

I agree with Tech, if the leak is bad enough to fog up the winsheild it's probably large enough to be leaking coolant on the carpet. Other obvious signs would be a decreasing level in the coolant reservoir and the smell of anti-freeze in the cabin. Tech would be the best the one to answer whether or not it's a do-it-yourself job. I had a heater core replaced last year. I bought the parts from FCP and my local Indy tech did the work. I think the total was around $300 for parts and labor.

I haven't had to top off my coolant in well over 2 months, so I don't think that its a leak. But i'll try and check. How do I pull down the carpeting by the gas pedal? Is it screwed down or something, I don't want to pull it up to never be able to put it back down again.

It would be easiest to remove the lower dash panle first then just fold the carpet down.

No the lower dash on the drivers side only has one screw holding in on.
Then it drops down. Then you can access the carpet to drop fold it down.
Also if you want to you can remove the black plastic cover behind the carpet. Right where it goes behind the dash by the radio there is a tab that locks in it. Pull the cover towards you and slide it foward then work it out.
